DJI Neo and Mini 4 Pro serve different beginners

DJI Neo is built around low weight, palm takeoff and simple tracking for personal video. It uses a single small camera and emphasizes accessibility rather than advanced image control. Its compact body and protected propeller layout suit short social clips.

Mini 4 Pro is a more capable camera drone under the 250-gram threshold in its standard configuration. It offers a 1/1.3-inch sensor, vertical shooting and omnidirectional obstacle sensing. It is the stronger choice when portability must coexist with conventional aerial photography.

Air 3S adds camera flexibility and longer missions

Air 3S uses a dual-camera system with a 1-inch main sensor and a medium telephoto camera. The two perspectives let a pilot move between wide establishing shots and compressed framing without flying dangerously close to a subject.

DJI publishes up to 45 minutes of flight time under test conditions. Real flights are shorter after wind, temperature, reserve requirements and repeated maneuvering are included. The aircraft also adds omnidirectional sensing and onboard storage for production work.

Avata 2 is designed around FPV motion

Avata 2 is not a direct substitute for a folding camera drone. It is a ducted FPV aircraft designed to be flown with goggles for immersive, close-range movement. The wide camera and built-in propeller protection support dynamic paths through tighter spaces.

Its flight style demands a different safety judgment. Automated features can assist, but the pilot remains responsible for the route, people and local aviation rules. FPV footage trades the stable elevated perspective of a Mavic or Air model for speed and proximity.

Mavic 4 Pro targets the highest image flexibility

Mavic 4 Pro sits at the advanced end of the range with a multi-camera system led by a large-format Hasselblad camera. It is aimed at creators who need high-resolution capture, multiple focal lengths and stronger low-light performance in a folding airframe.

The additional camera hardware, weight and price make it less suitable for casual use. Regulations may also differ from sub-250-gram models, depending on country and operation.

Official specifications still need operating context

Maximum flight time is measured in controlled conditions and should not be treated as guaranteed working endurance. Obstacle sensing reduces risk but cannot detect every wire, branch, reflective surface or low-texture obstacle. Tracking depends on lighting, subject contrast and environment.
